Licensed Micro-Electric Scooters Better Protect Your Safety!

ContentSince November 30, 2022, electric bikes have been renamed as micro-electric scooters. They need and now require licensing before going on the road. The riding age ishas been adjusted to riders overat least 14 years old. Powered by electricity, micro-electric scooters’ maximum speed is under 25 km per hour. Micro-electric scooter riders are not allowed to go on the road until they riders have their scooters inspected, examined, registered, and licensed by a motor vehicles office.
Taipei City Motor Vehicles Office began accepting micro-electric scooter license applications on November 30. Besides, the rResidents also have to ride their micro-electric scooters for speed testing and licensing. The tTransportation in Taiwan is very convenient and diverse. The means of public transportation are diverse. Micro-electric scooters are lightweight and convenient. After being rRegisteringed and licensinged, micro-electric scooter riding also protects the safety of road users so that everyone can ride happily and return home safely.
Director of Taipei City Motor Vehicles Office Jiang Shu-ren suggests that to encourage the current scooters to get licenseding as soon as possible, from November 30, 2022 to December 31, 2023, the applicants are exempted from the $450 license and driving permit fees. To apply for micro-electric scooter registration plates at a motor vehicles office, the riders should submit the documents to prove their identity, two copies of the new license registration form (two copies), their seal, documents to prove the vehicle, and safety inspection certificates (the using vehicles are not required for used vehicles), an invoice (vehicle loss affidavit), and documents proving that the vehicle withhas more than 30 days of compulsory auto liability insurance. Taipei City Motor Vehicles Office has indicateds that to facilitate license applicants, the Office also provides compulsory auto liability insurance application services. When riding a licensed micro-electric scooter, please remember to follow the traffic rules as well. To keep safe, please wear a standard helmet; don’t give others a ride; and don’t carry goods when riding. Those having and riding a micro-electric scooter before November 30 will have a 2two -years grace period andbut are required to apply for licensing and compulsory auto liability insurance by November 30, 2024. Starting Ffrom December 1, 2024 on, riders without a vehicle registration plate will be fined $1200-$3600, forbidden tobe prohibited from drivinge, and have their vehicles impounded. Those without compulsory auto liability insurance will be fined $750-$1500.
