The Taipei Zhong An Rotary Club held “Good News for Children’s Traffic Safety and Health Education” campaign at Taipei Expo Park, Yuanshan on November 7, 2020. To further develop traffic safety education, Taipei City Motor Vehicles Office specifically cooperated with the Rotary Club, setting up “the blind spots of large vehicles” promotion games and “digital mobile motor vehicles office.” The children could sit in the driver’s seat and actually experience the blind spots and radius difference between inner wheels. The public were able to apply for driver’s license reissuance, an elderly cognitive function test, a fuel tax bill and other vehicle related affairs.

Jiang Shu-ren, Director of Taipei City Motor Vehicles Office suggests that because of the blind spots and radius difference between inner wheels from the driver’s seat of large vehicles, the driver might not notice a pedestrian, bicycle, or motorcycle and easily cause an accident. Therefore, a mobile tool has been developed for people to actually understand blind spots and the radius difference between inner wheels so as to remind them to keep safe by staying in the right position when encountering a large vehicle on the road.

During the experience activity, the Taipei City Motor Vehicles Office also promoted rider’s safety on a large bus to children, introducing the location and instructions of the safety door, fire extinguisher, and emergency window breaker on the bus so they can escape during an emergency in the shortest time. Besides, two vehicle-related quiz competitions were held on stage and the winners were awarded exquisite gifts. Both adults and children were welcomed to the activity to experience different vehicle-related services.
