Taipei City Motor Vehicles Office would like to remind the public that when you receive a violation notice while you are not the actual driver, remember to transfer responsibility to the real driver before the scheduled appearance date!

If the transfer of responsibility is not processed within the deadline, the vehicle owner may face penalties such as violation points, attending safety courses, suspension, or revocation of the driver's license, based on the terms related to the violation. In the case of long-term leased vehicles by companies, penalties may be double or triple the original violation fine. Company-owned vehicles could be penalized with one recorded violation for the car, along with the possibility of license plate suspension or revocation.

To transfer responsibility, you can visit the violation and penalty counter in person or apply online "Traffic Violation Responsibility Transfer" on the Motor Vehicle Driver Information Service Website. After logging in as a member, select the "Apply for Responsibility Transfer Cases" option, fill in the required information, upload necessary documents, the violation notice, and relevant evidence. You can also track the application progress through the "Inquiry for Responsibility Transfer Case Progress" feature. Upon completion of the case, you will be notified by email.

The office also emphasizes that lending a driving license to falsely implicate someone else in traffic violations is considered identity theft and involves criminal liability. The public is urged not to believe in online rumors to avoid serious consequences.
