Taipei City Motor Vehicles Office indicates that the amendments ofto the Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance Act ofon June 15, 2022 will be enacted fromstarting November 30 on. The For a report forof failing to have compulsory auto liability insurance, besides through the current roadside checks, violations of the Road Traffic Management and Penalty Act, such as speeding, illegal parking, and other traffic violations accused by the highway supervisory authority or by the police when performing traffic duties, or reported by the highway supervisory authority or police, an administrative fine will be imposed by the highway supervisory authority.
The Act also covers mini electric two-wheel vehicles. For those reported for failing to obtaininsure compulsory automobile liability insurance, for a mini electric two-wheel vehicle, an administrative fine of not less than NT$750 and not more than NT$1,500 shall be imposed;
for a motorcycle, an administrative fine of not less than NT$1,500 and not more than NT$ 3,000 shall be imposed;
for an automobile, an administrative fine of not less than NT$3,000 and not more than NT$15,000 shall be imposed. When an uninsured automobile causes an accident, the highway supervisory authority will impose an administrative fine of not less than NT$9,000 and not more than NT$32,000.
Vehicle owners are reminded to examine the validity of their compulsory auto liability insurance immediately. Please apply for renewal at an insurance company if the insurance is overdue or is about to expire at an insurance company.
