According to traffic accident statistics, motorcycle accidents account for the highest proportion of accidents in the Kinmen region, particularly among the 18-24 age group. Motorcycle safety is, therefore, a critical transportation issue in Kinmen. To address this concern, the Kinmen Motor Vehicles Station has successfully assisted in the establishment of the first motorcycle driving school in Kinmen. The first training class is scheduled to commence on December 2, 2023.

The Kinmen Motor Vehicles Station stated that motorcycle accidents in the Kinmen region, especially among young individuals, including students from National Quemoy University, are a significant concern. In an effort to reduce motorcycle accident rates, the Station actively assisted driving training schools in the region in setting up motorcycle training classes. This support includes conducting surveys on the participation rates of local residents in motorcycle training, promoting motorcycle training on campuses, advocating for government subsidies for registration fees, obtaining additional support from private sector Hotai Finance Co., Ltd., and assisting in the establishment of training facilities. Through these efforts, the Kinmen region has successfully established its first motorcycle driving school, with the first training class scheduled to begin on December 2, 2023.

The analysis indicates that participating in motorcycle training can reduce the risk of violations by 56% and the risk of accidents by 35%. The training curriculum covers subjects such as ethical driving, traffic regulations, vehicle structures (6 hours), as well as practical skills including basic coaching, field training, and simulated exercises (10 hours). Participants can gain a better understanding of traffic safety concepts, knowledge, and acquire proper riding skills, effectively reducing the occurrence of violations and accidents.

The Kinmen Motor Vehicles Station stated that the current registration fee for motorcycle training is NT$2,850. To encourage public participation, those who register and obtain a driving license before December 15, 2023, will be eligible for a subsidy of NT$1,300 from the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, an additional NT$1,300 from  Hotai Finance Co., Ltd., and a training class incentive of NT$250. This means that interested individuals can enjoy free registration. Those interested can contact the Kinmen Driving School at 082-329881 for registration.
