Attention

  1. As long as the above required documents are present, the vehicle can be inspected. The vehicle owner does not have to be present during the inspection.
  2. This Office and the Taipei City Motor Vehicles Office, Shilin Motor Vehicles Supervision Station both have exclusive self-process lanes with friendly guidance to facilitate your inspection. (Self-process refers to the process of vehicle inspection by the vehicle owner him/herself or a relative/friend or employee, instead of through a professional agency.)
  3. To ensure the quality inspection performed by Taipei City Government authorized vehicle inspection companies for road traffic safety, a maximum daily inspection quota is imposed on every authorized vehicle inspection company. Inspections will not be accepted once the quota has been reached; as a result, please contact the authorized vehicle inspection company first to ensure availability of inspection.
  4. Please ensure that all infringements are cleared prior to inspection.
  5. Please be aware of the periodic inspection date on the Vehicle Registration License. Vehicles can be inspected a month prior and a month after the date specified. If the last date falls on a holiday, it is extended to the next business day.
  6. Postcards mailed out by Motor Vehicles Offices serve as reminders and not as legal constraints.
  7. If the vehicle registration license has been suspended or forfeited and the vehicle is not within Taipei City’s jurisdiction, vehicle owners must report to the original Motor Vehicles Office to clear the infringements and perform inspection.
  8. Vehicles not inspected by the inspection deadline (and thus violating “Road Traffic Safety Regulation Article 17”) may result in the vehicle owner being fined NTD 900 and up to NTD 1800. License plates will be suspended for uninspected vehicles over 1 month of the inspection date, and will be returned when the vehicle has passed inspection. License plates will be forfeited for uninspected vehicles over 6 months of the inspection date.
  9. For vehicles unable to be inspected by inspection deadline, please first visit a Motor Vehicles Office and have the license plate temporary suspended, cancelled or scrapped.
  10. If vehicle registration license happens to be within the renewal period during periodic inspection, vehicles can be inspected at Taipei City Government authorized vehicle inspection companies and vehicle registration license can be renewed once the vehicle has passed inspection.
  11. If the vehicle has not been cleared of traffic violations and/or fuel fee, vehicle owners can visit Taipei City Government authorized vehicle inspection companies to pay the infringement fees and have the vehicle inspected.
  12. Any infringements must be paid in full prior to inspection even if vehicle owner has filed an appeal request. The payment shall be refunded when the appeal request has been granted.
  13. If the vehicle did not pass inspection, there is a one-month grace period before it needs to be re-inspected (no additional inspection fees charged for vehicles re-inspected within seven days). If the vehicle cannot be re-inspected by the deadline, please first visit a Motor Vehicles Office and have the license plate temporary suspended, cancelled or scrapped.
