Highway Bureau, MOTC
The Highway Bureau is committed to provincial highway engineering, highway transportation management and highway supervision, simplifying administration and facilitating the people. The business scope is divided into three categories: road engineering, road transportation and road supervision, providing convenient and safe services for the public.
Services Items

Required documents

  1. Vehicle owner’s ID documents:
    1. Owner’s original ID card, military ID card, or alien residence certificate.
    2. Company: Official document for approval of company registration (including company registration form) issued by a competent authority or certificate of company registration issued by a competent authority and unified business number issued by a taxation authority. In case of copied proof documents, a copy of the latest receipt of business tax payment shall be submitted as well.
    3. Professional practitioner: A copy of the professional practitioner’s ID card, proof of business practice or proof documents issued by a trade union, and notice of unified business number.
  2. New License Plate Registration Form (original vehicle registration, not applicable to motorcycles).
  3. Owner’s seal (on-site signature is acceptable); original vehicle license.
  4. A valid insurance policy for compulsory automobiles liability insurance with an expiration date that exceeds 30 days.
  5. For applicants with movable property as a guarantee, please bring the letter of creditor’s consent.
  6. Any outstanding fuel fee, vehicle license tax, or fines shall be paid and proof of payment documents submitted.
  7. Applicants with a citizen certificate and motor vehicles office membership may apply online at the Motor Vehicles Driving Information Services website.

Notices

  1. A lost New License Plate Registration Form or vehicle license can be reissued upon submitting an application. For applicants with movable property as a guarantee, please also bring a letter of the creditor’s consent.
  2. For commercial vehicles, please visit the relevant counter for review and approval.
  3. If the vehicle has not been inspected by the deadline stipulated on the vehicle license, applicants shall first carry out vehicle inspection. Please submit the application to Taipei City Motor Vehicles Office or Shilin Station. For the inspection of trucks or large passenger vehicles, please visit Shilin Station.
